Shoutout Bill

This week felt like 17 years. Alexis is in Utah so I didn't get to hang with bff roami😭 idk who I am without her.

One night hna Wheat was getting ready for bed and asked if I was writing in my journal, I said no I'm just on my phone. But she heard "no im writing a poem" lol so i was like hm maybe I should. So i dropped some bars and I've now written a personal poem for everyone in our testosterzone! (Our whole zone is elders)

Taught the rest of the restoration to Uzziel with Rodrigo on FaceTime. Rodrigo just recently got reactivated and only went to church when he was a kid, so when Uzziel asked abt polygamy and we were explaining it Rodrigos face was a whole lot of πŸ§πŸ˜²πŸ˜΅πŸ€―

Lesson with MartΓn and his cousin Octavio from mexico city- we talked about temples and eternal families- both super important things for me and Wheat! This was the first lesson I got emotional, i was talking about how much i miss my family but that im glad i get to teach them that their families can be together forever and ever.
We showed them the Rome temple tour and they were so wowed by it. Octavio is super catholic but is so interested and wants to go to the mexico city temple visitor center. We're hoping to fix MartΓn's focus on the temple so he can see baptism as a step to going to the temple.

I have such a special place in my heart for the members in our small branch. I taught Adrian how to read the hymn book and he was so proud of himself. Rodrigos grandma Gloria always hugs us and says "Let God bless you and be with you this week". Then we always have dinner w the Gonzalez's Sunday night and we had a talent show with the girls, me and indie made up a cute little dance.

Idk if Bill Carpenters conversion story is super well known but wow it's amazing. It's too big to attach but look it up (especially of you're thinking about serving a mission or serving one right now). I loved the part that he says-
"Wherever we are, we are there to teach those certain people, we are there for them. They need to hear our personal testimony that they need at that time. Then we have to leave and be there for those other certain people that need us."
That doesn't only go for missions but also for life in general, all the people who are in your life are there for a reason (wether its your bestie or a friend/ coworker who's difficult to be around) they need to learn something from you and most times you need to learn something from them too. And when we're separated from those people it can be hard! But theres other people we need to be there for and God knows exactly who they are and His timing is oh so perfect.

Hugs and kissesπŸ«‚πŸ˜½

🐽🐽🐽

Our p day is moved to wednesday and transfers happened but me and Wheat are here to stay in Pasooo. Now we just need to stay one more transfer after this so we can go to the California Mid State Fair and go to the Nelly concert tehe!

Super interesting lesson with Joy, we walked in and her table was lined with paper that said "Welcome to bible class!"  She didn't wanna read from the bom, only about women in the Bible. She kept emphasizing that she wanted us to all get to know each other so Wheat was in the middle of her life story when she stands up and gets a drink then comes back and asks if I have anything to say, and then she goes to check on the dogπŸ’€ so we asked abt her but all she'd say is that she takes a professional picture once a year, and then showed us a picture of her and Santa in 2019🀠 but before we left I wrote my favorite book of mormon verse on the paper table haha suck it Joy

Had a 3 hr road trip to Camarillo for baby (me) to go to the mission therapist! I'm doing well, it was only to transfer the zolly (zoloft) here. He was a g tho and I learned more from him in 30 minutes than I did from my poly therapist I had for 3 months.  After we met up at chikfila with the icon Hna Dickinson (Wheats comp before me) and were laughing abt something and I did the loudest snort that Chikfila has ever heard.

We got invited to SLO's ysa soccer night AT THE COW POLY SOCCER FIELD, and could only come if we brought a friend.

Basically none of the latinos here have cars/ can drive bc they're illegal and cant get a drivers license. (Which makes it really hard for them to come to church) But our member Rodrigo pulled through and was so willing to bring some of our english students he'd never met! Christ's light absolutely shines through Rodrigo because he's always serving others.
The zone leaders were throwing it back by the end of the night though it was wild. Then we all walked back to our cars to a $42 ticketπŸ™‚ so me and Hna Wheat ate Taco Bell, salted by our tears, and returned home at 9:52pm whoopsidaizy

Listen to this talk tomorrow morning- Trust in the Lord and Lean Not

It talks about Proverbs 3:5-6 and i love how it explains HOW to trust in the Lord and HOW to not lean into our own ideas and get off balanced. The 3 main things Bonnie talks about is praying (our desires become more like the Saviors), more scriptures (our spirits are nourished), and serving (turning our focus onto others). Which one of those things can you work on this week?
When we do those things the Lord promises He will direct our paths, and He will lead us along (d&c 78:18)

I love getting emails from all of you pls reach out if you want!!

Hugs and kisses πŸ«‚πŸ˜˜

Homeless man does the crip walk in sacrament mtg

-This week we starting teaching lovely Joy Gee (english), the only way I can think to describe her is Yang from Psych!

-new FaceBook photo

-Had a member visit... at the rodeo YEEHAW and Wheatley did rodeo in high school so she was teaching me abt everything. It's ok tho the elders were there too- just in proselyting clothes and brought some book of mormons (Alexis: "could you scream Mormon just a little bit louder??")

-We went to ANOTHER antique store and I think i have a newfound fear of them

-Our English boy Joseph said he'd pull up to English ward with us, but he ended up being hungover so he didn't. We stayed anyways and WOW sacrament meeting of the century.
-1st homeless lady walks in and is cursing Britney for being a gosh dang mormon, she curses thru the whole meeting and gets escorted out 3 times.
-2nd homeless man stood up after Elder Reynolds got done with his talk and started pointing and yelling at him, hits a old man by him, then walks up by the pulpit and started to do what looked like the crip walk and yelled some more. Little did he know half the men in the english ward are law enforceres so they start popping up and going after him. After chasing him around the aisles a few times he spit on one of them and left. Shoutout joseph for drinking  last night so he wasnt there! πŸ€£
-(update on crazy lady after the meeting- me and Wheat went to the bathroom were we heard her yelling abt how she didnt wanna be baptized, we left. Update on crazy man- he was seen by the primary in the front of the church with a few less clothes on) only in California.

-Every week we have FaceTime lessons w our recent convert Adrian, but for some reason in this one I had the giggles BAD and I couldn't stop wheezing, bye bye Spirit

-But it's ok bc we had a crazy spirit filled Lesson with Martin- we basically asked him the baptismal questions without saying what they were. He gave amazing answers! So when he's done we hype him up that he knows so much. But he's still like nah I don't know enough. So Wheat hit him with the- we are literally representative of the Savior Jesus Christ, inviting you to be baptized. (We're just filling in for Him while hes afk) He sat and stared for a sec and said he still needs to know more. Whadduheck u mean martin??
-He specifically wanted to know abt the Sabbath day more and we had a member, brother Murray, with us and he explained it so well: at the end of the week our gas tank is empty, but the Sabbath day we go to church and think abt God, and our tank gets filled up. And martin's eyes did the clicky thing!! Ma girl sister Allie Vaughn was right the eyes click when they finally get it!

Hugs and kisses,
Herman jerman

Shopaholic Sistas

This week we planned little Milas bday party at alexis's, so that meant I got lots of time with my bestie Roami and their cats so I was in heaven. She made me a necklace that matches hers so we use it to turn into mermaids or mice under the table🀫

Hna Wheatley loves to shop and get treats, I fall prey to those things very easily, this week we went to coldstone, Starbucks, Goodwill, Ross, hobby lobby, olive garden, and a boujee version of Uptwon Cheapskate, SOMEONE TAKE AWAY MY MSF AND ZIONS CARD

Saturday was the tamale festival in Atascadero! Hung out with a mariachi band
for a bit and watched horse dancing wut. (Vid below)

One day there was the prettiest double rianbow- I lowkey forgot rainbows existed but wow. All things denote there is a God (Alma 30:44, shoutout big sis Al for putting that on your story). The clouds here are also stunning and so pearly, I like to imagine Heavely Father and Jesus peaking down at us from them. They're fs closer to us than that tho.

We taught Joseph about Joseph Smith- he kept getting confused if we were talking to him or abt Jo Smith lol.
After English class Wednesday night we had a lesson with MartΓn, he likes to know the why behind everything so he asked why I have faith in God and I was like dang boy pls hold, ill get back to you. But after thinking abt it my answer is that when you struggle- there's always 2 choices. You can either turn to God, or not. So once upon a time i didnt feel like i had much worth, but i chose hmm maybe turning to God will help me feel better. So i prayed about how I felt, tried to trust God, and continued to feast on His words (confernce talks, going to seminary, lds Instagram pages) and through those things i found what I had needed to learn, and when I'd hear or read them, I felt a feeling of confirmation that it was true, I actually did have a lot of worth as a daughter of God. That's why I have faith- because of those moments of struggling, searching, and then confirmation. So when you're struggling and you have those 2 options, which one are you gonna choose? (Pls turn to God I'm actually a missionary and I preach abt that so pls pick that answer!!!)πŸ™πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜š

Hugs and kisses,
Herman Jerman
